Lovely Evening @25 Seeds

This beautiful place by Chef Sau del Rosario promotes delectable farm-to-table cuisine. Situated in the heart in the heart of Angeles City’s heritage district, 25 Seeds will definitely satisfy anyone’s penchant for good food and a cozy ambiance.

Kudos to all the force behind this.

Quaint Cafe

Listening to the stories of two of my officemates, I was really excited to try out this new coffee shop in the City of San Fernando. My dear friends Yel and Randy agreed to finally try it out last Sunday after dinner. Its was a rainy evening, and there were a handful of people in the coffee shop.

We were immediately overwhelmed by the design factor of the shop. There are multiple concepts in the interiors of the place. While this place may interest the Instagram/Tumblr crowd, we all agreed that the designers went over the top. Chef Yel, who has high aesthetic standards, was not a big fan of the flowers scattered all over the place. I felt that whenever a local coffee shop is situated right beside Starbucks, there is always a silent attempt to compete with the SB experience everyone is almost already familiar with.

The coffee experience in general is ok, but the service of Coffee Project-Pampanga still needs a lot of improvement. I am personally willing to give this palace another visit.

The Next Generation

Watching the kids in their first night of the competition is just overwhelming. The talent and charm of these young artists give us hope in the future of dancing and performing arts in general..

Here are my top 5 for the first night of the competition ( in no particular order):

Sasha is just a magnificent all-star. Jordan needs to learn from her in this journey, but this is just a wonderful choreography of Andra Day.

I have to be honest that It was a tough decision to choose between Avery and Tate. In this wonderful routine by Dawn Richard, Tate is able to prove why she is in the final 10.

So much has changed to Ruby from her days in AGT. She is a confident and talented dancer who continued to hone her skills and she is here to prove that she is not the Junior Latin Ballroom Champion for nothing..

J.T. is just charming.

Daniela is so natural.

At this point, it is really anyone’s game. All the kids are special and it will surely be painful to see any of them get eliminated.

A Pleasant Stop at Baguio

We visited Baguio last year, and after a long trip from Pampanga, Jojo and I decided to take some rest and had hot coffee and a plate of salad before heading to the house we rented.

Patch Cafe is a small nook of good decoration, and upbeat vibe. It was a bit unexpected and was surprisingly pleasant. The place serves all day breakfast, good coffee, and very fresh salads. The place sits in the middle of the busy town, just across SM Baguio.

WIFI: good/free

Restroom: lovely and clean

Price: affordable

Staff: very nice

Serving: generous and healthy

Parking: street

Verdict: I look forward to visiting this place again.

Visit and for more details.

This is not cool, Apple

I paid for the app during the early years if iOS for iPad. It was a very useful tool for quick photo editing and photo books. When the Cupertino giant decided to make it a free app for newer iOS purchases, Apple should have given a refund to those who paid for it. But now, they are killing the app with iOS 8, and their only solution is to integrate it to photos with some minimal tweaks similar to the ones you get from a thousand other cross-platform photo app these days.

This is a bad move indeed. The iLife experience makes the apple products unique and premium. And the absence iPhoto makes a big difference.

The Thunder Birds and Pink Ladies on stage

We went to see AUF Repertory’s adaptation  of Grease today. Watching and listening to raw young talents of the cast is indeed a refreshing way of spending a Saturday afternoon as the “throwback” musical brought back to life memorable songs such as Summer Nghts, Grease Lightnin’, and Hopelessly Devoted to You

I personally enjoyed the performance of Axcell Centeno for his  lead role as Danny Centeno. His energy was very consistent from the start to the very end. Krishna Magdangal, on the other hand, gave an outstanding performance as Rizzo. For the entire show, Krishna remained in character from head to toe, while belting out the songs with her powerful voice. But the most captivating performance of all would be that of JC Santos’. JC has proven that his trainings in AUF, UP, Singapore, and NY made him a veteran thespian, and I am glad he returns to Pampanga to support the new breed of stage actors.

I know that the cast are still trying to develop their individual talents in singing, dancing, and acting, but it is good to know that Angeles University is doing the best it can to provide the aspiring artists a venue where they can actually hone the craft of theater performing.

Kudos to the organizers, cast, crew and to the director Tony Mabesa!

Grease will have its run until next week, so visit the Angeles University website for schedule and other inquiries.

buona cena at Italianeh

We always had that notion that Italian Cuisine is really expensive. Well at least it generally is here in Angeles City. But we discovered  a cozy small place that serves good Italian food at an affordable range. Italianeh is located at Vanderbilt Street, Marisol Subdivision, Angeles City. Italianeh is a pop-up bistro serving Italian cuisine, and this was put up by a group of Kapampangans.  The owners set up tables and chairs right in their own garage as they personally prepare and serve the food. So that basically explains, why the food is more affordable than those served in commercial establishments.

WIFI: good/free

Restroom: common restroom located inside the house. Clean

Price: affordable

Staff: very nice

Serving: generous

Parking: street

Verdict: I have been here several times and will definitely be back for some more calzone, pizza and pasta!
