bread talk (the good one)
When I was young, my nanay used to bring home delicious cheese bread which she said she buys from an bakery near the old Jenra Supermarket (now Jumbo Jenra) located in downtown Angeles. The cheese bread, I remember, were so good especially when they were still hot, and we always hurriedly ate it straight from the ordinary supot (plastic bag) to which they are packed. Along the countless renovations that happened in the city over the years, I never got any news from that once famous “anonymous” bakery.
Last year, when I was having a late night meeting for a wedding event, our client couple from Australia offered us cheese bread and Spanish bread which they said the priest from the Archdiocese of San Fernando recommended. The packaging was a simple box but when I tasted the cheese bread, I had an instant nostalgic memory of that old bakery in Angeles which I never got the chance of knowing.
I am not sure if the old bakery I was referring to was the same as the “L.A. Bakeshop” which is now slowly gaining its share of fame not only among Kapampangans, but also among the food enthusiast from Metro Manila.
The good news is, L.A. Bakeshop now has two stores in Angeles City. One is located along Sto. Rosario St. in front of Holy Angel University, and the other store is located in the ground floor of Oceania Building along the busy streets of Balibago.
So if you are in the mood for some baked goodies with no pretensions, visit the stores now. Just be ready to wait for a few minutes as they prepare your order.
